Beckhoff makes this advance possible through contactless power supply and synchronous, real-time data communication, enabling individual XTS movers to be transformed into mobile handling and processing stations.
The modular XTS system has been extended with NCT technology, including a special motor module with integrated electronics that can be mounted on the movers. The hardware required for the transmission technology is fully integrated into the motor module, thus preserving existing functionality and the compact installation. No additional connections or power lines are necessary. Hardware control on the mover is fully implemented in TwinCAT. All familiar TwinCAT features are available for straightforward project implementation.
For the first time, NCT technology enables product quality control and verification on the mover while a process is underway. Sufficient power and fast communication with the TwinCAT control system allow for easy connection of sensors and actuators. Data communication is capable of real-time operation and system-wide event synchronization with microsecond accuracy when connected to EtherCAT. This opens up new options for the user, particularly in the areas of handling, machining, and measurement alongside product movement, as well as the adaptability of machines to rapidly changing production runs in batch processing.
Various movement sequences can be implemented on the mover itself, for example, to align a product.
The mover becomes a mobile handling system with electromotive grippers, lifting magnets, or vacuum suction cups that can pick up, transfer, and place products.
Heating or cooling products during transport is possible, as is performing online measurements.
Integrated data communication enables, for example, the unique identification of movers, containers, and products, as well as status and process monitoring on each shuttle.
