While browsing the GEPPIA website, you may have noticed something was missing…
Indeed, GEPPIA has chosen not to implement a consent banner, which many people find tiresome to have to (un)check boxes without having read and/or fully understood the dozens of pages related to their terms of use… This choice by GEPPIA stems from a desire for greater transparency towards you, the website users, regarding the processing of your data. In fact, this banner is not mandatory… under certain conditions…
A brief explanation of our cookie policy will help you better understand our approach. The CNIL (French Data Protection Authority) defines a cookie as “a small file stored by a server on a user's terminal (computer, phone, etc.) and associated with a web domain (that is, in most cases, all the pages of the same website). This file is automatically sent back during subsequent interactions with the same domain.”
Several reasons explain the existence of cookies; some are essential for the proper functioning of an interface, while others allow website owners to obtain precise information about user journeys or the users themselves, expose them to targeted advertising, feed data brokers…
Why "without" cookies?

Essential cookies don't require your consent. These are the ones that the GEPPIA website can place in your browser (session cookies, display preference cookies, security cookies, etc.).
The others, the so-called “third-party” cookies such as those that allow tracking your browsing for marketing analysis, profiling, advertising, tracking purposes, require your informed consent to be implemented; we do not want these, because we do not have control over the uses of the operators who are behind them.
