Operating principle
Photogravure is an intaglio printing process. The design is engraved in cells on the surface of a cylinder. The cylinder is inked, the excess ink is removed by a squeegee, and then the ink retained in the cells is transferred to the substrate under pressure. Each color has its own cylinder.
Integration
The printing is done on a roll of paper at high speed. The machine incorporates inline finishing steps, such as varnishing, cutting, creasing or embossing.

From two to fourteen color groups, solvent, water-based or UV inks, speed up to 250 m/min, non-stop unwinder and rewinder, rotary cutting, creasing, embossing, sheeting and inspection systems.

What is photogravure?

What is the difference between gravure and flexography?
Flexography prints from a relief plate; gravure prints from a cylinder engraved in intaglio. Gravure printing is aimed at very large print runs and superior image quality, at the cost of a more expensive cylinder to engrave.
For what volumes is heliogravure suitable?
For very large series, where the cost of the engraved cylinder is offset by the length of the print run and the regularity of the result.
What types of media can be printed on?
Cardboard, paper and packaging films, processed in rolls.
Can the finishing be done online?
Yes. The machine can integrate varnishing, rotary cutting, creasing, embossing and sheeting, continuously with printing.
