Diversity demands greater flexibility from filling machines
Some yogurt and dairy dessert manufacturers are playing with universally popular flavors like strawberry, vanilla, and peach, as well as emerging ones (mango, blueberry, pistachio, and coconut), to capitalize on one of the main growth opportunities. Their machinery must therefore offer the high degree of flexibility required for recipe changes.
New products may combine new flavors and different sized containers to meet various consumption patterns, as is the case with natural yogurts. This presents an additional challenge for the filling machine. Such diversity inevitably creates a flexibility issue for any manufacturer wishing to invest in a new packaging line or replace an existing one with a versatile and sustainable solution.
To achieve this flexibility with the least possible impact on production capacity and manufacturing costs, three essential criteria must be studied:
- Tool changes should be as simple as possible for quick, tool-free operation by the operator
- Recipe changes must be carefully considered and optimized by the machine manufacturer to minimize losses of time and product
- Cleaning operations must be carried out as quickly as possible, with as little water as possible and with maximum efficiency.
Another advantage of the Modulo nozzle is its easy integration into packaging lines handling a large number of pre-formed jars or Form-Fill-Seal products. For FFS lines, a site survey can be conducted if required.
Modulo also offers manufacturers an effective solution for improving dosing quality thanks to its quick-change nozzles. The nozzles can dose products with a wide variety of characteristics, from viscous and stringy to aerated and lumpy products, while minimizing the loss of potentially expensive ingredients.
The designs achieved through layered helical patterns, stencils, or other techniques are incredibly varied. Creativity knows no bounds.
The Neo and Linea pot dosing machines are now equipped with the new Modulo nozzle
Known for its complete jar filling lines, Serac is leveraging its expertise in dispensing and now offers a new Modulo nozzle. This concept eliminates the need to disassemble the entire nozzle to switch between products. The Modulo nozzle consists of a fixed section and several interchangeable heads that can be selected according to the product's texture.
Combined with the dosing capabilities (from 5 to 1000 ml) and the precision of Serac machines, the Modulo nozzle is the essential tool for managing a wide range of recipes on a single machine.
